As we travel
east along Borden Avenue, we come up to a Long Island Railroad trestle
that carries the Montauk cutoff over the avenue. The Montauk cutoff
connects the Long Island Railroad's Montauk Branch to the railroad's mainline,
located north of this area. The cutoff isn't used as much today as
it was during the railroads glory days.

trestle facing west.
The trestle
is quite old. The Eye in the Sky is supposedly watching everyone
who sets foot in the area.

A
railroad trestle crosses-over a section of Dutch Kills, which is a tributary
of Newtown Creek.
The
Borden Avenue Bridge, a historically significant bridge, spans Dutch Kills.
