A
view of the freight train, passenger car, and various railfans in front
of the East New York tunnel. An old factory sits beside the western portion
of the ROW.
Another
view of the ROW and factory. I don’t see any signs of freight siding to
this particular factory, but there might have been one during the branch’s
freight heyday.
A
closer view of the old factory. This could have been a textile plant at
one time. I don’t know if the building is still in use today. We didn’t
see any people in it or by it during our trip.
The
Canarsie L streams past us, as we explore this section of the ROW. Passengers
looking out of the train must have been wondering what all of us was doing
on the ROW. It isn't often that one sees passenger service on this freight
line!
